If you want traditional New York with blueberries, it's ALLL yours! Or, if you want Pumpkin Pie with a chocolate crust - Bon appétit 👌
Update: I'll be back in the shop on the 26th!! I will be doing online orders only, until I'm cleared to work full time. My surgery was a success, and I had ALL negative margins this time 🙌 My next bit of good news... I had recommendations for Chemo THREE different times (incredibly nerve wracking!!) and then changed. My case was presented at the Board of Oncology meeting, and their recommendations were split. 😳 I did NOT expect to hear that!! I finally met with my new Oncologist and the FINAL, final, final, final decision is that I won't benefit from it enough to take on the side effects that would happen, so NO CHEMO! PHEW!!! Beyond that, I wait for my next meeting with my Radiologist to hear back on her recommendation on radiation. I can NOT wait to be back in the shop! SEE you all very soon!! 🤗❤
I've put off saying anything, to anyone outside of my close friends and family safety bubble... mostly because I hate how it sounds. For those of you I see often, I'm sorry. I just hate telling people sad things. I also very much dislike feeling like I have to lie, so people don't treat me differently... but I just couldn't bring myself to tell you when you stopped in. I'll now be out of commission for a little longer than I was hoping (The Shop will be open until June 24th, then closed from the 27th until I get cleared), so, here goes!...
I found out in February that I have Early Stage (1-2) Invasive Lobular Breast Cancer. I've now had many, many appointments (and more leading up to my next surgery), two surgeries; and they weren't able to get it all. So, I'll be having a Mastectomy (one side) on June 27th. I don't feel sick or look very different to anyone who doesn't know. I have been able to stay quite busy, so that's been pretty great! There has been JUST as much good as bad news in this whole process, and I know for a fact that God let me know when I did, so I could get it taken care of so soon! I'm going to be fine; it's just taking longer than I expected. My next surgery is on the 27th, and I'll have 2-3 more, depending on how the pathology report comes back. That will also tell me for sure if I'll need radiation or not. I'll be out of commission for 3 to 6 weeks, then we can plan the rest. The Shop will be closed during that time. I'll open back up the minute my Dr.s allow it! Thank you SO much to those of you who knew and relentlessly check on me and roll your eyes every time I say I'm good! 😊 At my annual eye checkup, my Dr. asked for updates. I totally choked up after saying it so simply, and seeing the look on her face. I forget that it's so real and something that is changing my life so drastically! (In good and bad ways!!) I'm sorry to tell you this way. I'm VERY sorry and bummed I have to close the Shop for such a while! I will be just fine, and soon, it will all be in the past! 🤗 I appreciate SO much to have my little kitchen to keep me so busy and distracted! I'm so VERY grateful for the amazing support, understanding, and GRACE this community has given me in my very first year, open! Through all of the random times I've had to close, change my hours last minute, or when I haven't felt very good and you noticed ❤️ Thank you SO MUCH! I will keep you updated as I learn more. ~ Kara 😊
